On the 20th of November, 2019, we had the honor to meet with a delegation of CSU Parliamentarians from the Education Committee of the Bavarian Landtag in Jerusalem.

Joining our meeting were two of our partners: Yael Maayan, Director of Academia as a Shared Space, from the Abraham Initiatives, and Dr. Yehuda Lahav from the University of Haifa and the Hebrew Reali School.

Yael Maayan spoke about the Israeli education system, which has separate systems for different sectors of Israeli society, and the work of the Abraham Initiatives to promote shared learning environments and experiences for Jewish and Arab schoolchildren and University students.

Dr. Yehuda Lahav spoke about our joint project with the University of Haifa and the Hebrew Reali School, as well as with the Bavarian Ministry of Education, which is based on the findings of the German-Israel Schoolbook Commission. The project brings together Israeli and German history and civic studies high-school teachers, who work together to write joint learning units about the other country, trying to bridge the knowledge gap that each country has about the other.

It was an interesting evening in which both sides were able to exchange knowledge and ideas about education, as well as create future cooperation.
