Future Leaders of the Palestinian Community in Israel

The coverage of the PCI in media and its presence in institutions reflects the inability of the current leadership to have control of the way it is represented. Our project trains young leaders by providing them with speech techniques, leadership and political engagement patterns, debating techniques and simulation tools, as strategic thinking.

The Palestinian Community in Israel (PCI) is currently not represented adequately and constructively in the political and the medial sphere. The coverage of the PCI in media and its presence in institutions reflects the inability of the current leadership to have control of the way it is represented. Our current project with our partner I'lam, trains young leaders by providing them with speech techniques, leadership and political engagement patterns, debating techniques and simulation tools, as strategic thinking.

Trainings in each of the areas provide participants with the well-rounded skillset necessary both to effectively lead within their community, and improve their perception outside their community, represent its needs and strategize for the future. The speech and persuasion techniques and the debating simulation trainings will improve the participants’ ability to introduce change on the leadership level based on critical thinking and better understanding of the challenges they have to face in the future. These trainings provide the participants with forward thinking skills, allowing them to constructively analyze and discuss prospective policy issues.

The training also provides the participants with hands-on experience, with several debating and simulation competitions that are open to the public and take place in one of Nazareth’s most busy areas. The participants also have the opportunity to talk to the public and draw the attention of as many passerby's as possible. The final competition will take place during the alumni's conference, who will host the competition and turn it into a big public event.
